Abstract :
A fast technique for fault detection in realistic, electromagnetic (EM)-simulated antenna arrays is proposed. In our approach, an auxiliary analytical array factor formula is enhanced using suitable response correction methods and utilized as a fast representation (or surrogate) of the accurate, EM-based array model. The surrogate is then used to detect faulty elements from amplitude-only data using optimization techniques (here, gradient-based algorithm initialized by random search). Our technique is demonstrated using a 32-element microstrip patch linear array.
