Abstract
The authors present results that quantify the additional time overheads that will be encountered when using the new Digital European Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) indoor radio communications system to gain access to typical interactive data communication services supported on LANs. Example applications include file transfer, remote terminal login and electronic mail. The overall transaction times associated with these applications have been measured and the additional delays of using a single DECT time slot to gain access to these services have been quantified by simulation
