Abstract :
The interfaces between (Pb,La)(Zr,Ti)O3 ceramic and electrode metals such as Ag, Sn, Cu, and In were examined by wetting experiments in atmospheres of air and 100% oxygen. In the wetting experiments, the contact angle during rising temperatures was measured. In and Sn showed obtuse contact angles for every atmosphere. Cu spread on PLZT (lead lanthanum zirconate titanate) in 100% oxygen and in air, resulting in a reaction among Cu, PLZT, and quartz plate. The wetting behavior and the cross-sectional interfaces between the metals and (Pb,La)(Zr,Ti)O3 were analyzed using electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), and the bonding mechanisms were examined
