Abstract
Technical and cost comparisons are made between the use of six-pulse drives with AC- and DC-side filters and twelve-pulse drives to reduce both electrical and audible noise. A twelve-pulse midpoint converter using thyristor armature reversing switches is described for four-quadrant elevator drive service, including construction and harmonic measurements. Interference generation, audible motor noise, resonance in motors, and attenuation methods are also discussed.<>
