Abstract
A novel sulfonated diamine monomer attached by sulfobenzoyl side groups has been synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR spectra. The synthetic procedures of diamine monomer and its derivatives from naphthalenic dianhydride are described. As one of the proton conductive polymer materials, the corresponding sulfonated polyimides show good solubility property, high thermal stability and high proton conductivity, which display good potential for application to polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells.
