Abstract :
This paper presents the design methodology and realization of an artificially engineered anisotropic metamaterial to improve the scanning performances of active phased arrays. The optimization procedure and the design of the structures are discussed. The proposed structures show an improvement of the array performances up to 70°. Different designs are presented taking into account the performance requirements and manufacture constraints.
