Abstract :
Genetic algorithms and local search techniques are used to optimize antenna placement for minimum coupling. The methodology uses a cylinder approximation of an aircraft fuselage and problems are of two and sixteen variables. An aggregate fitness function is constructed and monopole coupling and radiation patterns are calculated using uniform theory of diffraction techniques. Monopole coupling is reduced by GA and simplex search techniques by exploiting s in the surface wave coupling patterns while maintaining the desired antenna pattern coverage.
