Abstract :
There is an increasing interest in determining the characteristics of small antennas by measurements in reverberation chambers. The purpose of the paper is to show that reverberation chambers can be used to measure self-impedances of small antennas. This is a big advantage when developing and characterizing small antennas, because it eliminates the use of anechoic chambers when determining their performance. For validation of the measurements, we have chosen to investigate a dipole near a lossy dielectric cylinder. The paper shows that the self-impedance of small antennas can be measured efficiently and accurately in a reverberation chamber. We also show that it is possible to calculate it using G2DMULT, a general algorithm based on a technique for calculating the spectral Green´s functions of 2D multiregion structures by using the method of moments (MoM).
