  • Abstract
Multipath between end-to-end hosts has been prevailing in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks nowadays, and thus path selection has become an important issue in research for reliable multipath transfer. Most existed path selection algorithms assume that the data and ACK paths are independent, which does not hold for self-contention based wireless networks. This paper has analyzed self-contention´s influence on throughput and indicated that throughput would be improved by ACK offloading. Furthermore, throughput of ACK offloading is analyzed and the upper bound of its throughput is given. Simulation and experiment results show that the throughput gain of ACK offloading is up to 150% and resilience to the increase of alternative ACK path´s delay.
