            Abstract :
This paper discusses and evaluates the performance of four types of five-level inverter topologies by referring to Pareto front curves. The four types of multilevel topologies are, Active neutral-point-clamp converter (ANPC), two various types of Stacked multicell converter (SMC) and Switch gear cell converter (SGC). From the comparison studies, the five-level ANPC inverter can achieve the highest efficiency and highest power density among other converters even the switching frequency is changed from 5 kHz to 500 kHz.
