Abstract
While the method of moments (MoM) is well suited for analyzing the thin, planar, patch-type of frequency selective surface (FSS) elements, the same cannot be said for arbitrary elements that have a finite thickness, and are inhomogeneous in nature. We employ a periodic version of the finite difference time domain (FDTD) algorithm to analyze the effect of thickness on the frequency response of an FSS. The method is general enough to handle arbitrary elements as well.
