Abstract
To accommodate the great variety of proposed transmission requirements and vast increases in data rates and data quantity, NASA is replacing the existing network of ground stations with a new space network and associated ground processing facilities. The author describes the major hardware and software components of the instrument communications systems and the data-flow processes for spacecraft instrument commands and downlink data transmission
