Abstract
According to the characteristics of CAD mesh model and the requirements of engineering applications, we propose a novel method of simplifying CAD mesh model. First, the model is segmented using an improved watershed segmentation algorithm, and the region-level representation required by feature recognition is set up. Second, the form features needing to be suppressed are extracted through feature recognition and the feature-level representation is established. Third, every recognized feature is suppressed in a proper way and the simplified model is obtained finally. Several experimental results are given to show the superiority and effectivity of our approach.
