Abstract
Design of optimum layout for medium voltage power networks is a common issue in electrical distribution planning. Technical constraints (radial structure, voltage drops, and equipment capacities), and reliability limits must be fulfilled. The function for minimizing includes the investments, power and energy losses, and operational costs. In this paper, the aforementioned subjects are applied on the low voltage networks too. The basis of the optimization method that has been proposed in this paper is the branch exchange technique. The final results have been checked on a real case.
