Abstract :
A novel technique for improving the efficiency of a single stage flyback microinverter is proposed in this paper. The technique is based on combining the following two soft-switching mechanisms: A simple snubber, consisting of just a few passive elements and a variable frequency control zero-voltage switching (ZVS) technique. In the paper, the microinverter with the passive snubber is presented, the modes of operation of the converter are discussed and analyzed, the converter´s ZVS operation is explained and the design of the converter is demonstrated. Experimental results obtained from a lab prototype are presented as well.
