  • Abstract
This paper describes an adapted arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) design with focusing properties, which may be utilised for localised spectroscopic measurements such as flow cytometry and single cell analysis. The paper shows the integration between AWG device and microfluidic chip and lens curvatures were incorporated into the ends of the integrated waveguides. The controllable focusing properties were evaluated by fluorescence measurements, enabling to probe smaller sample volumes compared to conventional design.
