Abstract
Delay sensitive, interactive and real-time communications in 3G and beyond networks forces efficient utilization of resources. A multi code scheme provides lesser code blocking with higher call establishment delay. In this paper, we proposed single and multi code assignment schemes to reduce number of codes searched required before assignment of call. The scheme uses the status of higher layer codes searched in Orthogonal Variable Spreading Factor (OVSF) code tree to identify lower layer codes status. Two designs variants of our scheme namely scattered and grouped multi code are used for comparison with other schemes. Simulation, results are used to verify the superiority of proposed schemes.
