Research on the matching of IT strategic planning and business strategy

The last several decades have seen a steadily growing awareness across enterprises of the benefits of proper IT strategic planning. IT strategic planning, as the first step among the process of enterprise informationization, is the guideline of the enterprise informationization as well as the foundation of implementation. This paper aims to discuss how to make proper IT strategic planning. After discussing the Strategic Alignment Model and the relationship between IT strategy and business strategy, it proposes an IT strategic planning model based on business strategy, which is composed of IT assessment and analysis, IT planning and design and IT implementation and design. Then, it gives an example to illustrate how to make IT strategic planning by using this model.
