Abstract :
We used the Hybrid-Maize program to discuss software features that meet the demands from diverse users. The Hybrid-Maize software features intuitive and flexible input options, comprehensive tabular and graphic simulation outputs. The software comes with complete documentation of model formulation and validation. Moreover, all key internal model parameters are transparent and modifiable. Utility programs are provided as part of the software package to streamline capture of online weather data and subsequent conversion and reformatting, as well as checkup for suspicious or missing data entries. The software has a context-sensitive help system and a comprehensive user´s manual with examples of applications. A dedicated web site (www.hybridmaize.unl.edu) was also developed for the software.
