Abstract :
Web services technologies are being developed as the foundation of a new generation of B2B applications. One of the direct impacts is its replacement of the traditional FTP-based EDI systems in the retail industry. This paper illustrates the design of systems using these two approaches and discusses the differences and important issues related to order information storage, data transmission, system extensibility, and security.
