Abstract
In order to solve the coupling problem between torque and suspending force control in the conventional bearingless switched reluctance motor, a novel permanent magnet biased bearingless switched reluctance motor structure is proposed in this paper. Its configuration and working principle are introduced. In order to explain advantages of proposed structure, conventional structures are also compared. Further, basic design method for proposed structure and mathematic model for suspending force are described. Finite element method (FEM) is employed to get characteristic profiles. Based on the analysis, a prototype motor is designed and manufactured. Finally, validity of proposed structure is verified by the experimental results.
