Abstract :
Results of an investigation of a MOSFET-based, voltage-controlled, three-phase power inverter operating at switching frequencies exceeding those used in the typical supersonic inverters by one order of magnitude, i.e. within the hundreds of kilohertz range, are presented. The inverter, called hypersonic, uses state-of-the-art design of the driving and snubber circuits, as well as a random pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique. Switching frequencies as high as 250 kHz are maintained without compromising the efficiency of the inverter, while the load current waveform is practically a pure sinusoid.<>
