Abstract :
This paper proposes a /spl pi//4-shift QPSK receiver for microcellular TDMA/TDD systems. The receiver is suited for an all-digital implementation. It assumes a coarse automatic gain-control (AGC) which is updated digitally. The receiver uses a new maximum-likelihood (ML) based scheme for fast synchronization in its all-digital timing recovery circuit. The proposed timing acquisition scheme is independent of the AGC setting and does not suffer from hangups.
