Traditional choice models such as the Logit model have suffered practical difficulties in reality. Simulation is an efficient way to solve most of choice problems for it can help make decisions at quite a high speed without loss of accuracy. This paper focuses on the simulation of passengers´ choice behaviors within a railway network. Short introductions to a railway passenger´s choice behavior and several main choice models are given at first. Secondly, a simulation model is established followed by a case study. Many kinds of powerful and useful analysis and assessments can be easily obtained through simulation, which implies that the simulation model can be used in many phases and ways of railway planning such as train service planning. The conclusions are given in the last section.
