Abstract :
The networked command and video-assisted control of unmanned ground systems (UGSs) is an operational scenario that is of increasing tactical relevance. Following a summary of the requirements that a mobile ad hoc networking architecture must meet in order to provide reliable UGS teleoperation, this paper proposes barrage relay networks (BRNs) as a potential solution. Recent test results from a U. S. Government analysis of a BRN-compatible platform in the context of point-to-point tactical UGS communications are presented. As part of an on-going DARPA-sponsored SBIR program, TrellisWare Technologies, Inc. is extending this platform to support the teleoperation of multiple UGSs over a common, multi-hop barrage relay network.
