Abstract :
Adjustable speed drives (ASDs) experience several power quality events occurring on the AC line - the most common are voltage sags and interruptions, and voltage unbalance. ASD manufacturers test the immunity of AC drives to voltage sags, to conform to the requirements of SEMI F47-0706 and IEC 61000-4-34 standards. Immunity to voltage unbalance is required to conform to the IEC 61800-3 standard. In this paper, voltage sag and unbalance generator topologies are derived from previously proposed voltage sag correctors. Control methods are also proposed for the new topologies, for applications to ASD power quality immunity testing.
