Abstract :
This tutorial provides an overview of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in the railway environment to introduce the subject to those new to EMC and to ‘set the scene’. EMI/EMC are defined; major sources of interference in the railway environment are identified; a summary of the EMC regulations is presented; the principal Railway EMC standards are identified and an introductioni sgiven to EMC measurement.
