  • Abstract
    The automatic PMD compensator using a polarizer and a Faraday rotator-based polarization controller with low-frequency-band monitoring was applied to an installed-terrestrial system with 350-km single-mode fibers. The compensator produced long-term stable operation for 40-Gbit/s channels.
