Abstract :
The paper presents a new video coding scheme combining pyramidal lattice vector quantization (PLVQ) with distributed video coding (DVC). Our scheme firstly applies lattice A2 with side information to quantify the lowest coefficients in the discrete wavelet transform (DWT); and utilizes D4 PLVQ to deal with the rest of wavelet coefficients. DVC respectively treats nonzero lattice vectors and zero lattice vectors after D4 quantization. LVQ can extract the intra-frame dependences of wavelet coefficients; DVC can exact inter-frame dependences at the decoder. So, though intra-frame structure is used in our scheme, it has better performance than intra-frame coding
