Abstract :
We investigate how the learner´s properties influence organization of learner´s knowledge on basic concepts by analyzing data of a survey. The survey is performed for science major students and nonscience major students. The learner´s properties, learning motivation and cognitive style, and organization of knowledge on several basic concepts are observed in the survey. The analysis explicates that students with the style of the bottom-up processing tend to form hierarchical organizations if they are knowledge-oriented in the course and nonhierarchical organizations if they are only interested in how to use computers. The result is independent from students´ majors. On the other hand, there is a different conclusion for students with the style of the top-down processing. We suggest that curriculums in computer literacy education should be designed according to learner´s properties.
