Abstract :
In this paper, a widely used so-called impulse noise model, which has short duration and high energy, is presented. This type of noise occurs mostly in the over-the-air transmission, such as in standard broadcasting and satellite transmission. The common sources of impulse noise include lightening, industrial machines, faulty or dusty insulation of high-voltage power lines and various unprotected electric switches. Therefore, high impulse noise removal vector median filter for colour images is presented. Experiments and comparisons with other state of the art filters show that the presented filters have good quality.
