  • Abstract
The problem of grid fundamental component detection has intrigued many researchers due to its importance in the grid synchronization operation of grid-interfacing power electronics. The problem of harmonic detection is also a popular topic for the design of harmonic compensation devices. The existing techniques for the two problems often share some sort of similar methodology, because the fundamental component is essentially a harmonic in a wide sense. This paper reviews both problems, the techniques to solve them, and their advantages and limitations. The discussed literature and their methodology may provide a good source of information for further research work in this field.
