Abstract
In this paper, an application of stereo vision on traffic accident investigation is presented. Self-calibration of the stereo rig is utilized to get affine reconstruction. The external parameters between the two cameras are pre-calibrated which help us upgrade the affine structure to Euclidean. So the system not only can measure the real distance in Euclidean space, but also can be a varying focus system. This means the system is more flexible than most measurement systems. Experiment results validate the performance of the system
