Abstract :
With the scarcity of fossil fuels predicted for near future, solar energy is declared to be the best alternative. Production of conventional semiconductor cells is costly and requires complex facilities. Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) are low cost and seem very promising as alternative for the conventional semiconductor cells. This paper presents how we prepared and characterized different parts of a Dye-sensitized Solar Cell with an emphasis on TCO glasses. TCO glasses were deposited by a cost-effective spray pyrolysis technique using Fluorine and Antimony as dopants for SnO2. Fabricated thin films were then characterized optically and electrically. After preparing other parts and assembling them, fabricated solar cell was tested and I-V curve was obtained for it. Finally, a novel and simple arrangement for the solar cell, applicable for solar panels was implemented. The test was repeated for the new implementation. Considerable improvement is achievable in the output power of solar cells.
