Abstract :
A new multi-scale FDTD approach is introduced that allows the treatment of structures with fine geometrical details, whose dimensions are smaller than the cell size, to be handled with little modification to the basic updating scheme. The method incorporates the known near-field behaviour as determined through a numerical approach that reduces the structure into an array of dipole moments.
