Abstract :
Introduces the approach and technology of drawing-based solid-modeling based CAD. Understanding engineering drawings is a highly sophisticated inference process making use of geometry knowledge. We emphasise methods to reconstruct 3D models from 2D drawings, and representation/usage techniques for the knowledge that recovers the information lost in the process of 3D to 2D projection. The heuristics that trace the human understanding of drawings improve the restoration efficiency
