Abstract :
The author addresses the question of how channel errors affect the performance of subband coding systems. A basic subband coding model corrupted by either channel or quantization noise is considered. Power spectra of the output and reconstruction error are derived. Also, as an application of the above results, a method of finding optimum analysis/synthesis filter bank structures under minimum mean-square-error criteria is described
