Abstract :
This paper presents one of the pilot applications of the EU IST project ADMIRE. It briefly presents the project ADMIRE and data mining of spatio-temporal data in general. Then it focuses on an evolution of an environmental scientific application, being developed for more than 8 years. The application, originally targeting flood simulation and prediction is now being extended into the broader context of environmental studies. We present a brief history of the application, and the changes it has undergone in project ADMIRE. Then we describe several interesting scenarios, in which data mining and integration of distributed environmental data can improve our knowledge of the relations between various hydro-meteorological variables.
