Abstract :
The number of vehicle collisions, especially at intersections, continues to rise despite recent advancements in vehicular technologies. Innovative design solutions for collision avoidance systems and transportation infrastructure are needed. In this paper we introduce iICAS, a novel Intelligent Intersection Collision Avoidance System that utilizes various components and advanced features to detect and identify vehicles, predict collisions, and issue appropriate warning signals. Inherent intelligent features such as self-calibration, power management, auto mesh forming, and Over-The-Air (OTA) upgrade increase system reliability and functionality at a price point much less than comparable systems.
