Abstract :
The high permittivity LSE-NRD guide which is compatible with the usually used low permittivity NRD guide has been applied to antennas for the multiple access LAN at 60 GHz. An emphasis is placed on the transition between the low and high permittivity NRD guides. The performance has been optimized theoretically and the validity has been demonstrated experimentally. By using the fabricated transition, a base station antenna with a broad beam and a terminal station antenna with a narrow beam have been developed successfully. The half power beamwidth of the former antenna was measured to be 120 degrees in the E- and H-planes, while that of the latter antenna was measured to be 2 degrees in the E- and H-planes, respectively.
