Transit and transport

This issue\´s Works in Progress department features two transit and transport-related entries. The first entry, "Traffic-Light Assistant," describes a traffic-light optimization project that will provide drivers with real-time state information about upcoming traffic lights. The second entry, "Monitoring and Validating the Transport of Waste," discusses a multipronged approach to waste tracking and a management cycle that\´s composed of vehicle-based GPS trackers, waste-container sensor networks, and chemical markers in the actual waste itself. This department is part of a special issue on transit and transport.
