  • Abstract
This paper develops an adaptive controller based on input-output feedback linearization for speed and torque control of sensorless permanent magnet synchronous motors for electric vehicle application. The machine parameters, including the iron loss, are estimated by a simple method which is robust to parameters uncertainty and operating conditions. Using the extended electromotive force, the rotor speed and position are estimated and thus, no physical sensor for their measurement is required. Principles of the motor control based on input-output feedback linearization and details of the machine parameters estimation using the recursive least square technique are presented. Effectiveness of the developed control system in terms of accuracy of the machine parameters estimation and regulation of the operating parameters is demonstrated.
