Abstract :
Dielectric resonator antennas are found to be an efficient radiator. In the search for dielectric resonators with wideband performance, different DRA shapes have been investigated. It is found that some geometries have a wider bandwidth or better polarization characteristics than others. We consider the truncated tetrahedron geometry. Three different configurations are considered. The first is with the wide base of the truncated tetrahedron attached to the ground plane and the second is with the narrow base attached to the ground plane. The third case is the triangular cylinder as a special case of the truncated tetrahedron. Different excitation mechanisms can be used to excite the DRA. We use coaxial probe excitation.
