Abstract :
This paper introduces an approach to deal with coexistence problems in multi-group license-exempt (LE) networks. When multiple wireless groups share the same frequency channel, they interfere with each other. However we proved that if all transmitters use an identical power detection threshold and transmission power, coexistence can be achieved in the sense that the receiver of an active transmitter located inside a certain protected region is guaranteed a minimum SIR. Information exchange between groups is not needed so that by simply observing the power regulation rules, any individual group can exploit the spectrum resource in a relatively fair and efficient way. The results can also be applied to solve multi-group coexistence problems in cognitive radio networks
