Abstract :
Laohahe Drainage Basin lies in the upper reach of Liaohe River, and famous for its soil erosion and sediment yield. This paper estimated the soil erosion and sediment yield of Laohahe Drainage basin by ERDAS and ARCGIS software, and the relationship between land use and soil erosion/sediment yield is calculated by ARCGIS Spatial Analysis module. The results indicate that both soil erosion and sediment yield in bare land, unused and farmland are strong, although sediment yield in grassland is also strong due to the high SDR and low coverage. In consideration of the true situation of the studying area, improving vegetation coverage and changing land use type perhaps are the most suitable way to prevent soil erosion and sediment yield.
