Abstract
Single phase systems, although, form only limited part of the total power system, harmonic pollution due to increasing proportion of power electronic based single phase nonlinear loads cannot be overlooked. Harmonic pollution introduces many operational and control related problems like increased losses, resonance, interference, protection failure, zero-crossing detection, control circuit mal-operations, etc. A novel method based on adaptive wavelet neural network (AWNN) for harmonics estimation is single-phase systems is presented in this paper. Simulation results show that proposed method gives estimation accuracy within the limits defined in IEEE 519-1992 and IEC 61000-4-7.
