Abstract
Driven by cloud-based services, virtualization, and data-intensive computing, the network infrastructure within data centers requires cost-effective and power-efficient solutions. This paper motivates and summarizes the state of parallel optical interconnects for these networks. Results are presented for 10 Gbps and 25Gbps VCSEL based devices.
