Abstract
Though chromatic dispersion can be compensated in different ways, signal transmission without dispersion compensation is still desired in optical networks. This is especially true for the subcarrier modulated systems, where parallel to the baseband modulation content a subcarrier is used, and a huge modulation bandwidth is allocated, which can significantly limit transmission length. As shown in this paper, applying optical carrier suppression can reduce dispersion effect.
