Abstract :
A non-reciprocal frequency selective surface (FSS) based on ferrite Faraday rotation, with transmission along one direction and attenuation (isolation) along the opposite direction, is presented. This FSS is constituted of a ferrite slab having parallel strips printed its two faces with 45deg direction difference, sandwiched between two dielectric slabs ensuring matching. A specific design is demonstrated by full-wave analysis with insertion loss of 4 dB and isolation in excess of 20 dB. It is the first reported non-reciprocal FSS to the knowledge of the authors. This FSS may find applications as antenna radomes with immunity to scattering and interferences.
