Abstract
This paper presents a new pedometer which requires, practically, no user depended calibration. This new scheme is based on an inductive proximity sensing principle. The proposed pedometer consists of two modules, to be installed one in each shoe. These modules can be easily integrated, by the user, into commercially available shoes. A prototype unit has been developed and tested. Results are matching well with reference measurements. New sensor is less expensive and does not require frequent calibrations.
